The shape of colors
Artesilva presents the bipersonal exhibition by Jacques Toussaint and Jorrit Tornquist.
Despite the great diversity of their paths, for both of them the landing place of their artistic research is the deepest rigour. For Toussaint, this rigour translates into a careful study of the materials, the joints and balances of the supports, the repetition of his own graphic sign. His poetics transforms everything into carefully studied geometries and calculations. The materials, from industrial processing, are steel, aluminium, Dibond and forex.
Tornquist, on the other hand, while using a more traditional technique, acrylic on canvas, expresses this rigorism through research based on the scientific study of colour and how it is perceived by the human eye. The artist will exhibit a 5-metre polyptych with countless hypnotic shades of colour, in which the shade of the previous canvas becomes the main colour of the next canvas.
The exhibition is a further appointment within the gallery’s exhibition review as a testimony of its passion for a geometric, non-figurative and experimentation-loving line-up.
